Aspyr may make minor adjustments for the new port, but - based on past work - the game will likely remain largely the same. There's currently no word on additional features like motion controls for the Nintendo Switch version KOTOR. Ironically, BioWare tried to remake KOTORat one point, as well, but its attempt never got past the initial pitch phase. While BioWare's most acclaimed work lives on, the studio will not be involved with the upcoming remake. Although the original game appears to still be avoiding PlayStation consoles for the time being, the original game on Switch will join the mobile versions in providing a unique, pick-up-and-play experience not available on other supported platforms. It's interesting to see Aspyr is still in charge of Knights of the Old Republic despite its ongoing work on the remake. Knights of the Old Republic is also available on mobile devices, and it's unknown if the Switch version will be using that version as a foundation for its own port. The game is currently also available on Xbox consoles via backward compatibility. By the time KOTOR - Remake releases on PS5, the game will be fully available on almost every modern home console except for PlayStation 4 and 5. Aspyr will also be handling this port, just as it has with other Star Wars games. It's unclear if there are any plans to develop a sequel separate from the original Knights of the Old Republic 2 at this point, but it is sure that Switch owners will get to experience the original game in all its glory this fall.
The story is still largely believed to resemble what was in the original game, but Aspyr may make some changes (which could become new Star Wars canon). The remake is expected to rework gameplay and more, with rumors indicating it will move from turn-based combat to real-time combat.
